Boarding Information

  • Where do we park our cars?
    Passengers need to use our Passenger Parking Lot located one block away from our marina.  The address to the Passenger Parking Lot is 103 Rocky Ridge Road Leesville, SC 29070.
  • How do we get from the Passenger Parking Lot to the Hollow Creek Marina?
    We have a Marina Shuttle that will pick you up from the parking lot and bring you down to the marina.
  • Where do passengers board the Spirit of Lake Murray?
    Most cruises board at Hollow Creek Marina located at 3340 Highway 378 Leesville, SC 29070.  For Private Charters the Spirit of Lake Murray is sometimes able to go to other locations to pick up groups.  Always reach out to your host for questions.

General Questions

  • Can you tell me a little about the ship?
    The Spirit of Lake Murray was built in 1995 by SkipperLiner Industries in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. It was formerly owned by a hotel in Jacksonville, Florida, where it was known at "The Jacksonville Princess". The vessel is spaciously designed with two climate-controlled interior decks, outdoor strolling decks at the bow and stern. There is a large outdoor patio on the upper deck. It is a Coast Guard approved vessel for up to 134 passengers. Amenities include spacious restrooms, on board bar, climate-controlled cabins, outdoor observation decks, and large windows offering panoramic views of beautiful Lake Murray.
  • Are there any group rates available? For groups of ~40+ refer to Private Charter Packages.  For Groups of ~20 or less refer to Public Cruise Information.  There are no group discounts for public cruises.
  • Is the Spirit of Lake Murray open all year round?
    Yes, the Spirit of Lake Murray is available for private bookings all year around.  Public Cruises are also offered all year round.
  • What is the dress attire?
    Private Charters: Please check with your host for appropriate dress. Public Cruises: Dress is at the customer's discretion, however, high heels are discouraged. 
  • How long is the cruise on Lake Murray?
    Private: Our packages start with a 2 hour base.  You are welcome to add more sailing time.  Refer to your host for private charter cruise details.  
    Public: Public cruises vary from 2 - 3+ hours depending on the activities involved.  Refer to the cruise detail page for specific cruise information.
  • Is there an area to gather before boarding?
    There is a covered deck lakeside patio at the Hollow Creek Marina shared with Lake Murray Deli & Bar. You are welcome to come early and relax on the lakeside patio. When the Lake Murray Deli & Bar is open beer, wine, drinks and snacks are available.  Refer to their website for hours of operation.
  • Is there live entertainment on board the cruise?
    Private: Refer to your host for private charter details.
    Public: All public cruises are unique from each other. Some public cruises have live bands, DJs, & heritage music while others have history, sightseeing, wine & beer tasting, etc.  Refer to the posted public cruise detail page for information on a specific cruise.
  • Is the vessel Coast Guard certified?
    The Spirit of Lake Murray is Coast Guard certified and regularly maintained to adhere to strict safety regulations.
  • Are there restrooms on board The Spirit of Lake Murray?
    Yes, there are restrooms available on the ship.
  • Does the Spirit of Lake Murray sail in inclement weather? What if it rains or snows?
    The Spirit of Lake Murray will cruise in most weather conditions all-year round. Each enclosed deck is climate controlled for your comfort. In the case of severe weather conditions or upon the direction of the US Coast Guard, the ship will remain dockside for the length of the event, but the event will go on. For Private Charter Cruises, please read the contract/charter agreement for special reference to inclement weather.
  • What is your cancellation policy?
    Public Cruises: All ticket & seat purchases are final and nonrefundable.  Public cruise tickets and seats cannot be exchanged for a different date or time.  If you cannot attend a cruise then tickets can be transferred to a friend. We cruise rain or shine throughout the year.
    Private Charter Cruises: Please refer to the Charter Agreement/Contract. 

Private Charters

  • What is a Private Charter?  A Private Charter is a private event booked by you for a specific date, time, etc.  You plan your menu, activity, etc.
  • Is there a deposit required?  Yes, a $500 Nonrefundable Deposit and a signed Charter Agreement are required in order to secure your date and time.
  • What is a good group size for the Spirit?  The Spirit of Lake Murray is a perfect venue for all groups of 40 - 120.
  • What is the legal maximum of the Spirit of Lake Murray?  134 Passengers is the Coast Guard rated maximum. We suggest our clients stay near 120 guests to allow for more comfort on board.
  • Is there a minimum number of people required in order to book the Spirit of Lake Murray? Our Private Charter Packages do require a minimum payment for 40 people, however you do not have to have 40 passengers attend.  Booking a Private Charter does secure the whole yacht as a private reception event venue for you and your guests.

Public Cruises

  • Where can I find the best information about Public Cruises on Lake Murray, South Carolina? Visit the Public Cruise page on this website.  You can view the set menus, times, activities, etc.
  • How do I book a Public Cruise? Click "Book Now" on the Public Cruise page to view upcoming cruises.  You can purchase seats and tickets from there or by calling our office during normal business hours. 803-730-3044
  • What is the menu on a Public Cruise?  A menu is preset and can be viewed with the posted cruise details on the "Book Now" page.  One menu is prepared for everyone on board.  No substitutions can be made.  Usually, there are several vegetarian items on the menus.  Menus vary on each public cruise, so always refer back to the cruise detail page for detailed information.
  • Are seats assigned on Public Cruises?  On most public cruises seats are assigned prior to your arrival.  If you have any seating requests you must let us know several days in advanced.  If you or anyone in your party would like to avoid stairs you must let us know several days in advance for main deck seating.  In rare cases, public cruises are planned as reception/standing only style.  In that case, it would be clearly marked on the cruise details page.
  • Can someone request certain seats? Absolutely!  Please give us several days notice of any seating requests. Not all requests can be fulfilled.
  • What is the Admiral's Room? The Admiral's Room is a Lake Murray exclusive opportunity for a small group to book a semi-private dining area during a public cruise.
  • How do I book the Admiral's Room for my small group? Refer to the Public Cruise page for detailed information about booking the Admiral's Room at the Spirit of Lake Murray.
